This Norge GT 8V was the updated eight-valve evolution of Moto Guzzi’s long-distance Norge touring family, introduced for the 2011 model year after the nameplate had already established itself as the brand’s full-fairing sport-tourer. It carried forward the model’s Italian grand-touring character while adopting Moto Guzzi’s newer 1200cc four-valve-per-cylinder V-twin, along with revised chassis and touring equipment aimed at improving high-mileage comfort and road stability.
The model marked an important refresh rather than a clean-sheet replacement. Compared with the earlier Norge 1200 GT, the 8V version brought more contemporary engine technology and a more refined touring package, helping keep Moto Guzzi competitive in the large-displacement sport-touring class. It was also associated with the brand’s traditional strengths: shaft drive, long-range comfort, wind protection, and a distinctly mechanical, characterful feel that set it apart from more conventional Japanese and German rivals.
Moto Guzzi continued to develop the Norge GT 8V during its run, with visual updates and equipment refinements over the years, but the core concept remained the same: a fast, comfortable transcontinental motorcycle with clear Italian identity. The nameplate appears to have remained on sale through the 2016 model year, after which it disappeared from the range as Moto Guzzi moved toward a new generation of touring motorcycles in later years.
