MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Grancabrio

This Italian open-top grand tourer first appeared for the 2010 model year as the convertible counterpart to Maserati’s contemporary coupe-based luxury GT. The original car used a 2+2 layout and was positioned as a refined, long-legged cruiser rather than a stripped-down sports car, emphasizing style, comfort, and touring capability with a fabric roof and classic grand-touring proportions. It remained in production through the end of the 2019 model year, after which the nameplate disappeared from the lineup.

The badge returned for the 2024 model year on a completely new generation, reintroduced as the convertible partner to the latest coupe. This revival kept the same core idea—an elegant, high-performance Italian drop-top built for fast cross-country travel—but updated it with modern underpinnings, contemporary design, and a new generation of powertrains. Because the nameplate was discontinued and later brought back after a gap, it has multiple distinct production periods rather than one continuous run.
