Kawasaki used this nameplate first on an early-2000s 125cc dual-purpose model that appears in Kawasaki parts records for the 2003 through 2006 model years. The KLX125 name then returned in late 2009, when Kawasaki announced a new fuel-injected 125cc dual-purpose machine for Japan, and Kawasaki’s regional model archives show the badge continuing through at least the 2015 model year in some markets. Because the nameplate was discontinued and later revived, it should be treated as having multiple production periods rather than one continuous run. The KLX125 sits in Kawasaki’s lightweight off-road-oriented lineup, aimed at riders who wanted an approachable small-displacement dual-sport with everyday usability and trail-friendly character.
