MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the KLX110R

This small off-road Kawasaki nameplate appeared as the KLX110R for the 2021 model year, when the brand refreshed its KLX play-bike lineup and began using the new R suffix for the standard version. It was positioned as an approachable mini moto for new riders, with an automatic clutch and a 112cc air-cooled four-stroke engine tuned for easy trail riding and pit-bike use. Kawasaki also introduced the closely related KLX110R L at the same time, giving the line a taller, manual-clutch alternative for riders who wanted a step up in size and control.

Although the KLX110R badge is relatively recent, it sits on a long-running Kawasaki 110-class off-road family that dates back to the KLX110 nameplate in 2002. The 2021 rebranding carried that proven concept forward under a clearer model naming structure rather than marking a separate revival after a gap. Since the KLX110R has remained in Kawasaki’s current lineup, there is no confirmed ending year for the nameplate. The model is best understood as Kawasaki’s compact, beginner-friendly dirt bike for riders who want a simple, durable machine for learning, backyard riding, and informal off-road fun.
