Kawasaki’s Japanese press materials first announced the KLX110L in mid-2010, with sales scheduled to begin that summer, and described it as a larger-capability version of the entry-level KLX110, aimed at both younger riders and adults interested in mini-moto fun. The key distinction of the L-model was its step up in rider control, including a manual clutch and a four-speed transmission, which made it more appealing to riders moving beyond the automatic-clutch base model.
From the start, the KLX110L fit into Kawasaki’s small-displacement off-road lineup as a learner-friendly machine with a more hands-on riding experience than the standard KLX110.
