This nameplate was Isuzu’s U.S. minivan entry, launched for the 1996 model year as a rebadged version of the first-generation Honda Odyssey. It arrived during the period when Isuzu and Honda were exchanging vehicles for the North American market, giving Isuzu a family van to complement its truck and SUV lineup without developing a dedicated minivan from scratch. The vehicle shared its basic underpinnings, packaging, and front-wheel-drive layout with the Honda, but wore Isuzu-specific badging and styling details.
The Oasis remained on sale through the 1999 model year. For 1999, Honda had already introduced an all-new Odyssey, but Isuzu continued with the original-generation version for one final year rather than switching to the redesign. That makes the Oasis a fairly short-lived, single-run nameplate in Isuzu history, and one of the more unusual examples of Japanese manufacturer badge engineering in the U.S. market.
