The nameplate arrived in the 2014 model year as Infiniti’s two-door luxury coupe, positioned as the successor to the G37 Coupe. The first version carried over the brand’s familiar rear-drive grand-touring formula and kept the emphasis on style, smooth performance, and everyday luxury rather than outright track focus. For 2014 and 2015, the coupe was sold as the brand’s sporty entry in the premium two-door segment, helping establish the modern Infiniti naming era.
The model then disappeared for the 2016 model year while Infiniti reworked the car for a new generation. It returned for 2017 with a more angular body, updated cabin technology, and a stronger performance identity. That second-era coupe shifted to Infiniti’s twin-turbo V6 architecture and broadened its appeal with a wider spread of trims, including higher-output performance variants. This later version carried the nameplate through the 2022 model year, after which Infiniti discontinued it.
Because the nameplate was absent for a model year and then revived in a substantially reworked form, it should be treated as having multiple production periods rather than one uninterrupted run.
