Sport Scout

The Sport Scout nameplate first appeared in 1934 as a sportier, heavier-duty offshoot of the Scout, created to give the company a more performance-oriented midsize machine during the interwar years. It quickly became one of the most recognizable prewar Indian variants, and it earned a place in racing history when Ed Kretz won the inaugural Daytona 200 in 1937 aboard a Sport Scout. The original run continued through the wartime era and ended with civilian production in 1942. After a long absence, the name was revived for the all-new Scout family launched for the 2025 model year, where the Sport Scout returned as a modern, factory-built trim-level/model combination aimed at riders who wanted a more aggressive look and feel within the Scout lineup. Because the nameplate spans two separate production eras, it should be treated as a revived model rather than a single uninterrupted lineage.
