The Story of the Chief T3 Special Edition

This limited-edition cruiser was created as a movie tie-in for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and was marketed during the 2003 model year. It used the contemporary Chief platform from Indian’s Gilroy-era revival, but it was treated as a distinct special-edition nameplate rather than a standard trim. The bike was positioned as a collectible, highly styled version of the Chief, with production tied to the film’s publicity and the broader return of Indian as a heritage American motorcycle brand in the early 2000s. Unlike the core Chief line, which had a much longer and more varied history, this edition was a short-lived, one-year exercise that blended the classic Chief silhouette with a pop-culture collaboration. It became notable among enthusiasts as one of the more unusual Indian special editions of that period, remembered less for long-term catalog presence than for its association with the Terminator franchise and its limited availability.
