The Story of the WW150/PCX150

This Honda scooter nameplate was introduced in 2012 as the larger-displacement expansion of the PCX family, which had already established itself as a global commuter model. Rather than being a separate, unrelated design, it was developed from the same basic PCX concept: a premium-looking small scooter aimed at everyday urban use, with an emphasis on style, ease of handling, and practical comfort. Honda positioned the model as part of its worldwide scooter strategy, and it appeared after the original PCX had already been launched in multiple markets.

The model’s early life reflected Honda’s broader push to create a common global scooter platform. In the years after launch, the PCX series was updated and localized for different markets, and Honda later moved production of the second-generation PCX family to Vietnam in 2014. That period helped establish the nameplate as one of Honda’s most visible modern scooters, especially in Asia and Europe, where it filled the space between basic commuter scooters and larger maxi-scooters.

The nameplate’s continuous run ended when Honda fully redesigned the PCX line for 2021 and replaced this version with a larger-displacement successor. Because the 150cc designation did not continue beyond that full model change, this record represents a single production era rather than a revived nameplate. In Honda’s scooter history, it stands as the intermediate-displacement PCX variant that broadened the family’s appeal and helped define the model’s global identity before the later PCX160 era began.
