MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the TRX650FA (Rincon)

Honda introduced this nameplate for the 2003 model year as a flagship recreational ATV aimed at riders who wanted a more refined, automatic alternative to traditional sport-utility machines. It arrived as a significant step for Honda’s off-road lineup, pairing the Rincon identity with Honda’s then-new focus on convenience, smooth power delivery, and easy operation in a full-size four-wheel ATV. The machine was positioned above Honda’s smaller utility models and helped define the brand’s premium ATV image in the early 2000s.

The original production run was brief but important. It appeared as the 650-class Rincon and remained in Honda’s catalog through the 2005 model year. For 2006, Honda replaced it with a larger-displacement successor under the same Rincon family, which means this exact 650 designation represents the first chapter of the nameplate rather than the later continuation. Because of that transition, the 650 model is best understood as the original Rincon generation, distinct from the later 680-series machines.

Enthusiasts remember it for establishing the Rincon as Honda’s premium automatic ATV and for showing that a big-bore Honda ATV could be focused more on comfort, usability, and all-around versatility than on a purely sport-or work-only mission. Its short production window, combined with its role as the first Rincon, gives it a clear place in Honda ATV history.
