Intrepid

Introduced for the 1993 model year, this full-size Dodge sedan helped launch Chrysler’s LH-era cab-forward design language and replaced the older Dynasty as the brand’s large four-door offering. The original car stood out in the early 1990s for its long, low proportions, spacious cabin, and modern packaging, and it quickly became one of the most visible American sedans of its era. A first-generation run carried through 1997 before a substantially revised second generation arrived for 1998, keeping the same basic mission but with updated styling, structure, and powertrain choices. Over time, the car moved from a comfortable family sedan image toward a more aggressive market position, especially in performance-oriented trims such as the R/T, which became the enthusiast-focused version of the nameplate. The model also became familiar to stock-car fans because its shape served as the basis for Dodge’s NASCAR efforts in the early 2000s. Production ended after the 2004 model year, closing a 12-model-year run that spanned two distinct generations and remains a memorable part of Dodge’s 1990s and early-2000s history.
