Hi-Cube

This Chevrolet commercial van nameplate began as the factory-built, long-wheelbase cutaway/cargo variant of the G-series van line. It was positioned above the standard Chevy Van and Sportvan as a cube-van style work vehicle for hauling, delivery, and specialty body upfits, rather than as a passenger-focused van. By the mid-1970s it was appearing in Chevrolet truck literature and public records, and it remained part of Chevrolet’s G-van commercial lineup through the 1980s and into the 1990s. Over that period, it tracked the broader evolution of Chevrolet’s full-size van architecture, including the later G30-based commercial applications and heavy-duty diesel-era offerings. The nameplate stayed strictly utilitarian in character, serving fleets and vocational buyers until the G-series commercial van family was eventually succeeded by Chevrolet’s later Express cutaway/cargo derivatives.
