Cruze

This nameplate began as a Chevrolet-badged compact sold in Japan for the 2001 model year, developed with Suzuki and positioned as a small, practical car for that market. After that early run ended, Chevrolet later revived the Cruze name for a very different global compact sedan launched for the 2010 model year, which became the brand’s mainstream small-car offering in North America and many other markets. The U.S.-market Cruze was offered through two generations: an initial model that arrived for 2011 in the United States and a later redesign that followed. Chevrolet eventually discontinued the Cruze, and the nameplate is now a closed chapter in the U.S. lineup. Because the Cruze appeared in separate production periods rather than one uninterrupted run, the nameplate’s history should be treated as distinct eras rather than a single continuous span.
