Caprice

This full-size nameplate began in 1965 as an upscale trim/package on Chevrolet’s big-car lineup and then became a separate model for 1966. It grew into one of the brand’s most familiar full-size cars, evolving through multiple generations of rear-wheel-drive sedans and wagons before ending its first production run after the 1996 model year. GM Heritage materials still document both the 1965 and 1996 Chevrolet Caprice model years, underscoring the span of that original run. The nameplate later returned in the 2011 model year on a new body-on-frame Police Patrol Vehicle built from GM’s Australian large-car architecture, and parts and service references show that revival continuing through the 2017 model year.
