The Story of the Bolt EUV

The Bolt EUV was Chevrolet’s first attempt to turn the Bolt EV formula into a more crossover-like electric vehicle, arriving for the 2022 model year as a roomier, longer-wheelbase companion to the Bolt EV. It kept the brand’s focus on accessible battery-electric motoring, but packaged it in a small SUV body with a taller stance and extra rear-seat space, which helped it stand apart from the original hatchback. Chevrolet positioned it as an affordable mainstream EV rather than a premium lifestyle vehicle, and it was introduced alongside a refreshed Bolt EV as part of the brand’s broader push into electrification.

For 2022 and 2023, the Bolt EUV was the Chevrolet EV most clearly aimed at buyers who wanted the simplicity of the Bolt name with more everyday utility. It also became notable for helping bring broader attention to GM’s smaller EV lineup, especially after Chevrolet added feature and trim updates during its short run. The nameplate did not continue beyond the 2023 model year, and Chevrolet later listed the Bolt EUV among its discontinued vehicles. As a result, the Bolt EUV is remembered as a brief, single-generation Chevrolet EV that bridged the gap between the original Bolt EV hatchback and the next wave of GM electric crossovers.
