Aveo

Chevrolet introduced the Aveo in North America for the 2004 model year as a low-cost subcompact, positioned as the brand’s new entry-level car after the Metro. In its earliest U.S. form, it was offered as a sedan and hatchback and gave Chevrolet a modern small-car nameplate sourced from GM’s Korean operations. The Aveo was updated heavily for the 2007 model year, which gave the car a fresher look while keeping it in the economy-car space. In North America, the original Aveo run ended after 2011, when Chevrolet shifted to the Sonic name there. However, the Aveo badge continued in other markets, and Chevrolet currently still uses the nameplate in Mexico on a redesigned subcompact line. As a result, the Aveo is best understood as a long-running global Chevrolet small-car nameplate with a U.S. debut in 2004 and later market-specific evolutions rather than a single short-lived model.
