This Canadian Buick nameplate was introduced for the 2005 model year as the local-market badge for Buick’s new mid-size sedan, a car sold in the United States as the LaCrosse. It replaced Buick’s older Canadian sedan offerings and quickly became the brand’s mainstream four-door luxury model in Canada. GM service and recall records show the Allure name used consistently through the 2005–2009 era, and Buick parts listings also identify 2010 Allure applications, confirming that the nameplate carried into the 2010 model year. For 2010, GM Canada launched an all-new Allure based on the redesigned sedan, but the badge was then phased out as Buick standardized the car’s name to LaCrosse in Canada as well. The result is a single, continuous production run rather than a revived nameplate. In enthusiast terms, the Allure is best understood as the Canadian identity of Buick’s first modern LaCrosse-era sedan, with the name chosen to avoid the awkward French-Canadian connotations of the U.S. name.
