K 1600 GTL

BMW introduced the K 1600 GTL as part of its new six-cylinder K 1600 touring family, launching it for the 2011 model season as BMW Motorrad’s flagship luxury tourer. The nameplate arrived alongside the K 1600 GT and marked a major step for the brand, bringing a compact inline-six engine to the motorcycle line for the first time and giving BMW a top-end long-distance machine aimed at riders who wanted touring comfort, high equipment levels, and smooth power delivery in one package. From the beginning, the GTL was positioned as the more plush, passenger-focused counterpart to the sportier GT, with a strong emphasis on refined travel rather than aggressive performance image.
