Aprilia’s Scarabeo 100 was part of the brand’s long-running Scarabeo scooter family, a nameplate that grew out of Aprilia’s original Scarabeo concept and became one of the company’s best-known urban mobility lines. The 100 cc version appeared in the year 2000, when Aprilia expanded the family with new four-stroke variants alongside the better-known smaller and larger Scarabeo models. Rather than being a separate stand-alone idea, the Scarabeo 100 belonged to a broader range that evolved over time while keeping the same identity. Aprilia’s own historical material shows the 100 among the Scarabeo models carried into the 2010 model-year update, when the line was refreshed with a Net version that paired the familiar Scarabeo styling with more modern trim and features. That same official history also shows the Scarabeo range being rationalized in the following years, with the smaller 50 cc models remaining after the wider family was reduced.
In period literature from the Piaggio Group, the Scarabeo 100 is still listed in 2012, and later materials describe it as phased out, indicating that it did not continue indefinitely as a current model. For enthusiasts, the Scarabeo 100 is significant less as a performance scooter and more as a representative example of Aprilia’s early-2000s approach to upscale city scooters: distinctive, practical, and part of a nameplate that helped define the high-wheel scooter segment for the brand.
