MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the YFB250FW Timberwolf 4x4

Yamaha introduced the Timberwolf as a compact utility ATV line in the mid-1990s, aimed at ranch, farm, and general work use rather than pure recreation. The 4x4 version added the extra traction and versatility that made the nameplate especially useful in mud, snow, and rough terrain, while keeping the Timberwolf’s straightforward, small-displacement, easy-to-live-with character. Yamaha’s own historical material identifies the Timberwolf family as a 1996 ATV introduction, and Yamaha’s 2000 product communications still list the Timberwolf YFB250FW among its active utility models, showing that the 4x4 variant remained in production into the 2000 model year. The nameplate did not have a documented break-and-return cycle; it ran as a single continuous utility ATV line before ending after 2000.
