MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Venture

Yamaha introduced this full-dress touring nameplate in 1983 as a high-tech long-distance motorcycle built around the company’s liquid-cooled V4 touring platform. The original Venture/Venture Royale era established the model as Yamaha’s flagship luxury tourer for the North American market, with a strong emphasis on comfort, fairing protection, integrated touring equipment, and shaft-driven long-haul character. Production later ended, but Yamaha revived the Venture identity in 1999 as the Royal Star Venture, carrying the concept forward with an updated V4-powered touring package aimed at the same grand-touring audience. The nameplate returned again in 2017 as the Star Venture, marking a modern reinterpretation of Yamaha’s large touring flagship. Because the Venture name was used in separate production periods with a significant gap in between, this model is best treated as a revived nameplate rather than one continuous run.
