Morphous

This scooter nameplate was introduced in the U.S. for the 2006 model year as Yamaha’s CP250 Morphous, a bold maxi-scooter that stood apart from conventional step-throughs with its stretched, low-slung silhouette and futuristic styling. Yamaha positioned it as a comfortable urban cruiser with a strong emphasis on rider and passenger accommodation, making it one of the more distinctive scooters in the company’s lineup during the mid-2000s. The model was refreshed in subsequent years, including 2007 and 2008 model-year updates, but it remained a short-lived run rather than a long-standing family. In Yamaha’s broader global scooter story, it was closely related to the Japanese-market MAXAM/CP250, but the Morphous nameplate itself is remembered as the North American-market version. Its unusual proportions and “concept bike brought to production” look gave it a cult following among scooter enthusiasts, especially riders who wanted something more dramatic than a typical city commuter. Production for this nameplate ended after the 2008 model year in the United States.
