MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the DT100K

This 1983 trail/enduro nameplate was part of the long-running DT family that Yamaha built around street-legal off-road riding. By the early 1980s, the DT line had evolved well beyond the original late-1960s trail-bike concept, and this 100cc K-code version represented one of the smaller-displacement entries in that era. It was aimed at riders who wanted a lightweight, simple dual-purpose machine with everyday usability and the dirt-road character that made Yamaha’s DT models popular in many markets. Yamaha’s model records and period parts literature identify it as a 1983 application, and there is no evidence of a later revival under the same exact nameplate. As a result, it is best treated as a one-year production entry within the DT series rather than a long multi-era model line.
