MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the CC

Volkswagen introduced this four-door fastback in 2008 as the Passat CC, positioning it as a more style-focused alternative to the mainstream Passat sedan. The model helped popularize Volkswagen’s interpretation of the four-door coupé, pairing a low roofline and sweeping profile with everyday practicality. In 2012, Volkswagen updated the car and dropped the Passat prefix, selling it worldwide as the CC. That refresh kept the same basic concept but gave the nameplate a clearer identity as a standalone model rather than a Passat derivative. The CC occupied a niche above the volume midsize sedan range and was especially notable for bringing concept-car styling into a production Volkswagen. In 2017, Volkswagen introduced the Arteon as the CC’s successor, bringing the nameplate’s run to an end after nearly a decade on sale.
