MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Titan

Introduced as Nissan’s first modern full-size pickup for the North American market, this nameplate arrived for the 2004 model year after being launched in the United States in 2003. It was developed to give Nissan a true competitor in the large-truck segment and was built in Canton, Mississippi, a key part of the company’s push into the U.S. truck market. The truck established its identity around a V8-powered, body-on-frame formula and became Nissan’s flagship pickup in America.

The model went through two main generations during its life. The original truck emphasized size, durability, and straightforward work-truck capability while also offering crew-cab and off-road-oriented variants. A major redesign arrived for the 2016 model year, bringing a more modern cabin, updated technology, and a more refined interpretation of the same full-size-truck mission. In parallel, Nissan expanded the line with the heavier-duty Titan XD, but the core nameplate continued to represent the standard full-size pickup.

Nissan later confirmed that 2024 was the final year of production for both the Titan and Titan XD. That ended a two-decade run for a truck that marked Nissan’s entry into the mainstream full-size pickup arena and remained a distinctive alternative to the segment’s domestic leaders.
