Early versions were cataloged in Chevrolet truck literature and positioned as a special-purpose platform rather than a passenger vehicle, with the line evolving over time as GM updated its truck and motorhome chassis architecture. Through the 1970s and 1980s, it remained a familiar choice for RV manufacturers seeking a factory-built Chevrolet underpinnings package for large motorhomes. GM Heritage documentation shows the Motorhome Chassis nameplate continuing across many model years, with the line still listed into the late 1990s. The nameplate ended after the 1998 model year, closing out a long run that helped define Chevrolet’s presence in the RV market.
