Its development emphasized advanced construction and all-wheel-drive engineering, helping establish the car’s reputation as one of the most ambitious performance machines of its era.
The model line was offered in several closely related forms during its single production run, most notably the grand touring version and the lighter, more extreme Super Sport derivative. The latter arrived later in the run and gave the nameplate a sharper focus for collectors and enthusiasts. Production continued only through the mid-1990s, ending in 1995 when the original factory period closed.
