MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Giulia (952)

The Giulia nameplate began in 1962 with Alfa Romeo’s original Giulia, a sporty family sedan that grew into a broad family of sedans and coupés and remained on sale through 1978. That first Giulia became one of the brand’s defining cars, remembered for its lightweight engineering, sharp handling and strong motorsport and enthusiast following. After a long gap, Alfa Romeo revived the Giulia name in 2015 for the modern rear-wheel-drive sedan internally known as the 952, with the full range reaching markets in 2016. The revival was positioned as a return to Alfa Romeo’s core sports-sedan identity, and it has continued as the brand’s current Giulia model line. The 952-era car is especially associated with the Quadrifoglio performance version, which helped re-establish the nameplate as a flagship for Alfa Romeo driving dynamics and Italian sporting character.
